On October 9, 1998 the Ministry of Justice of Georgia registered the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics. Since the very day of its foundation, the goal of the Fund was to fulfil such noble programs as are care for health of mothers, children and adolescents and protection of their social conditions.

Famous physicians, professors and public men collaborate with the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics, that conducts charitable actions for the social provision and medical assistance of the population.

The Fund takes care for the education of healthy families and healthy generation, prepares women for future maternity. The Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics has carried on charitable actions and at present continues doing so, during which total of 53.000 children were subjected to complex inspection. They were given proper advises and consultations and necessary remedies, scores of patients underwent free of charge urgent operations and were rendered different high-qualified clinical assistance. The actions were carried on in Tbilisi and its environs, in the regions of East and West Georgia. At present free of charge high-qualified medical assistance was legislated in Paediatric Clinic of Tbilisi State University and it got a systematic character.

It should be mentioned that charitable actions were supported both by governmental and non-governmental medical organisations of different regions of Georgia. Regional representations have been founded in Imereti, Kakheti and Samegrelo.

The Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics is holding conferences and symposia devoted to urgent issues of present day.

The cycle of scientific-practical conferences of young physicians and residents was restored on December 25, 1998 by carrying on the I conference with the motto: “Trust the reality of future together with us”. The conference found a broad response among young experts and students.

The II conference was held on June 1, 1999. There were presented rich with vitamins and amino acids biologically active addition “Apivit”, as well as tonic natural drinks “Apophit” and children’s nutritional product “Tserodena” of home industry.

On April 23, 1999 in G. Zhvania Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University a symposium -  “Children’s nutrition in the XXI century” and the second one - “Orthopaedic school” on May 20, 1999 were held.

On December 25, 1999 the III Conference “Today’s economical trends in paediatrics and its perspectives” was held by the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics.

On June 1, 2000 the II Conference “Child has the right to be protected since the embryo” was held in a small hall of Rustaveli Academic Theatre.

On March 27, 2001 a meeting  “Under age criminals, their rights and the reality” was organised at the office of Georgian Public defender.

On June 1, 2001 the XIX Conference of the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics was held in Rustaveli Theatre, including 3 symposia: 1) Child has the right to be protected from the embryo; 2) Child, adolescent and family violence; 3) Treatment in the XXI century with the motto “Happy childhood without injection”.

From 23 to 26 May 2002 under the blessing of his holiness and beatitude of All Georgia catholicos-patriarch Ilia II, the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics fulfilled free of charge prophylactic inspections in high-mountain regions of Adjara. Total of 600 children was inspected by high-qualified physicians-paediatrists. They were given proper medicaments; as well as clinical-instrumental investigations were carried out.     

On May 30, 2002 in Rustaveli Academic Theatre (large hall) the VI (XX) Scientific-practical conference of the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics was held. The work of conference included 2 symposia – 1) Child has the right to be protected. 2) Treatment in the XXI century and XX Jubilee Conference of residents, post-graduate students and young paediatrists.

On November 6, 2002 International Conference “Medical-social problems of patients with mucoviscidosis and constitutional disturbances of substance metabolism” was held.

On November 7, 2002 International Conference “Modern aspects of congenital infections” was held.

On April 4, 2003 the 9^th Conference of the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics was held which included 2 plenary sessions: 1) Principles of enteral and parenteral nutrition. 2) Children’s nutrition, bioactive combinations, up-do-date treatment.

On May 31, 2003 in the Assembly Hall of the administration block of Tbilisi State Medical University X (XXI) Scientific-Practical conference of the Fund of Protection of Social Paediatrics “Principles of diagnosis and immunocorrection of secondary immunodeficiency state in paediatric practice” what appeared to be the first International Internet Conference.

On December 19, 2003 in G. Zhvania Paediatric Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University the II Conference of Georgian Children cardiologists “Topical problems of children cardiology” was held.

On June 1, 2004 in the Assembly Hall of Tbilisi State Medical University the II International XI (XXII) conference of the Fund “Topical problems of paediatrics” was held, devoted to the International Day of Children’s protection”.
